Originaria de México, hija de padres mexicanos, vive desde hace 36 años en Estados Unidos, donde ha trabajado con la comunidad latina por 20 años, a través de Grupo Latinoamericano, organización donde funge como presidenta.
Como comunicadora, fue columnista del periódico News-Leader por cino años y fue parte de su junta editorial.
Es co-dfundadora y subdirectora de la revista en español Enfoque, en el cual se tratan temas de interés a la comunidad hispana, fomentando su desarrollo a través de la información. La revista ofrece un periodismo social, de servicio público.
Desde hace cinco años conduce un programa radial llamada NOSOTROS, el programa se transmite los sábados, éste es un programa informativo que trata asuntos de interés a la comunidad latina o asuntos que atañen o afectan a esta población.
Ha trabajado directamente con la comunidad mexicana por 20 años, en forma voluntaria. Trabaja en los medios de comunicación (radio y prensa) con el mismo fin, ayudar a esta población a obtener una mejor calidad de vida en este país.

Yolanda Lorge es miembro fundador y actual presidenta del Grupo Latinoamericano, una organización establecida en 1987, que se dedica a mejorar la situación de la comunidad latina de la zona y a fomentar relaciones de comprensión y entendimiento entre los hispanos y el resto de la sociedad estadounidense. Yolanda conduce "Nosotros", un programa informativo diseñado para promover nuestra herencia cultural. Maneja también temas de interés a nuestra comunidad o asuntos que atañen o afectan a nuestra población latina.
Yolanda Lorge is originally from Mexico. She is now a naturalized American citizen. She is a founder and current president of Grupo Latinoamericano, a Springfield based organization established in 1988, which is dedicated to the betterment of Latinos and the pursuit of a better understanding between Hispanics and the rest of the American society. The organization also provides help to immigrant families in adjusting to this society. She is the director for its folkloric dance group. She is a Spanish and English instructor for the organization. She also teaches Spanish at Ozarks Community College, and is a Spanish interpreter for the courts in the area.
She wrote a monthly column for the Springfield News-Leader for five years, and was on its editorial board. Currently, she is the associate editor and writer for a regional Hispanic magazine called Enfoque. She produces and conducts a weekly radio program in Spanish called NOSOTROS , an informative program which deals with topics of interest to the Hispanic community or issues that affect or pertain to the Latino population.
For two years, She was an associate producer of a weekly program on Ozarks Public Television which celebrated cultural diversity in the Ozarks.
She is a former member of Missouri State Committee of Psychologists and State Board for the Healing Arts, and is currently a Board of Directors member of Community Foundation of the Ozarks, Southwest Missouri Council of Governments, Sister Cities Association, Writers Hall of Fame, Ozarks Regional Alliances, Forum: A women’s Network.
She participates as a member in several statewide and local community advisory boards and committees, such as State School Boards, Missouri Minority Health Alliances, Junior League of Springfield, Springfield Public Schools, Citizens Committee for Drug Court, Great Southern Bank. She is also a volunteer for Prisoner Visitation and Support ( visitation program for Federal and Military prisoners).
“My main purpose in accepting these positions in agencies and organizations like those-- which obviously define the future of our community, is to give the Hispanic people a voice to represent them, and thus reinforce the works performed by Grupo Latinoamericano. Connecting with people is important. A lesson I have learned is that you can’t move anyone into action unless you move them first with emotion. The heart really comes before the head”.
